You should also subscribe to the DPCC operations mailing list to receive information about service outages and planned maintenance periods.  The list name is dpcc-operations hosted on cse.uta.edu.  Information on how to subscribe to the list can be found here.

 Logging in:

Users interact with the cluster by accessing one of the interactive nodes:

bulletmaster.dpcc.uta.edu
bulletgrid.dpcc.uta.eu

The machines offer login and file transfer services through version 2 of the SSH protocol.   The SSH service is only accessible from computer within the UTA network.  Offsite SSH access can be accommodated by making arrangements with the system administrator.  Appropriate client software exists for most operating systems either pre-installed or downloadable.  For Windows users, the University has a site-license from SSH.com for client software available here  (one can also get non-commerical versions of the same programs from the SSH.com).   Another popular terminal client is PuTTY available here.

Once logged in you should change your passsword with the command yppasswd.

On the machines listed above, the same daemon that provides the terminal service, also provides secure file transfer abilities through either scp or sftp.  The software from SSH.com provides a GUI based sftp client, while the maker of PuTTY offers a command line program for file transfers.
