Communication Method & Class Style  of PHYS1441-501, Summer 2004

Commuincation method: Primary communication method of this class is via e-mail.  Therefore, I strongly urge everyone of you to obtain a UTA e-mail account and subscribe to the class e-mail distribution list (PHYS1441-501-SUMMER04@listserv.uta.edu) by sending e-mail to listserv@listserv.uta.edu without subject but with the body text as follows:

subscribe phys1441-501-summer04 FirstName LastName

Your UTA e-mail accounts: Your e-mail accounts are created at the time your Windows NT accounts are created.   These are both done automatically on the very first day of class.    The account names are of the form fml####@exchange.uta.edu where f is the initial of your first name, m is the initial of your middle name, l is the initial of your last name, and the #### is the last four digits of your Social Security number.    The initial password of your account is MMDDYY## where MMDDYY is your birthday with YY being the last two digits of the year and ## being the first two digits of your social security number or student ID number.  It is crucial that we construct this e-mail list as soon as we can at the beginning of the semester for ease of communicaiton.  If you have problems, send your questions in e-mail to helpdesk@uta.edu or in the central library.

The lectures will be given in the form of mixture of computer presentations and traditional methods, depending on the situation.  It is strongly encouraged to ask questions and to engage in discussions concerning the class material.  While it is your own responsibility to attend every class, attendence will be randomly taken and many opportunities for strong participation will be given in classes.   The sum of these two will constitute to an extra 10% of the total credit as described in the evaluation policy.
